Delicious.

This month’s changes are especially delicious, as many reinforce the need for fresh, relevant, localized content, something we here at Go Local have been preaching for quite some time.…

Bot

Meet the Bots

As I am sure you are aware, the web is made up of a private under belly of characters that get periodic mention, but not much attention.  I am speaking of bots.

Bots are basically programs that are written with the sole purpose of finding and cataloging content.  Once content has been discovered and logged, it is up to the owner of the bot as to what they will do with the data.  For most people, the only bots worth noting are the bots that drive the search engines like Google and Bing.  For a much smaller group of people, there is interest in all the bots, their purposes, and their crawl frequency.

How can you effectively target and syndicate content to your social platforms?

Creating content is one thing. Effectively distributing content is quite another. As media consumption outlets become more and more fragmented it becomes harder and hard for businesses to be ever-present for potential customers. The goal is to be able to create content, and with the single click of the “publish post” button, to have your content automatically distributed throughout your social networks with little to no additional intervention.

The most logical content source is your blog. Blogging platforms have evolved considerably over the past few years, with most blog sites having enormous inbuilt configurability. Here at Go Local, we use the WordPress …
